Synopsis
Snarky Puppy is an American musician collective in the genre of fusion/jazz rock. In 2004 Michael League founded „Snarky Puppy“ together with musician friends from around the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. The group has about 25 members who perform in varying lineups around the world. The troupe is led by its founder, bassist, composer and producer Michael League. In 2014, the group was awarded the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance for the track Something with singer Lalah Hathaway. In each of 2015 through 2017, it was voted Best Jazz Band in Down Beat‘s Readers Poll. In 2016, Snarky Puppy, along with the Metropole Orkest from the Netherlands, won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for the album Sylva. At the 2017 Grammy Awards, Snarky Puppy received the award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Culcha Vulcha. At the 2021 Grammy Awards, Snarky Puppy repeated their success and were again awarded Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Live at the Royal Albert Hall.
